We decided to make a move from Mexico to Roatan on a weekend, I found John and Barbara on a google search to look at available properties. I contacted them and within minutes they replied with MLS listings and suggestions for us to see upon a trip to Roatan. We booked and flew out to meet with them and purchased a beautiful home of our dreams within days. John and Barbara guided us on every aspect, answered all questions immediately and followed up with answers they needed to obtain. The entire process was smooth from signing contract, scheduling inspection, closing to other issues that we needed assistance with after closing. We have been in our home for several months and I know I can always drop them a message with any question about island living, without John and Barbara we would have been lost. They go above and beyond what I would ever expect an agent to do for and after a sale. We not only have our agents for life on Roatan but good friends.

We did share with you personally what an awesome job John and Barbara have done for us. But I wanted both of you to know the full extent of their extraordinary client service.
In a 30+ year real estate investing career, I have worked with and consummated dozens of transactions in 5 different countries. Obviously the international agents cater to the ex-pat community, but I can honestly say I have not encountered anyone as knowledgeable, resourceful and responsive as John and Barbara. No matter what our request or inquiry, big or small, they have an informed and rapid response to our needs. They managed the closing process flawlessly. And as you can imagine, there are many such inquiries coming into a new country, from real estate law and residency, to shipping household goods, inspector, utilities, internet, contractors, landscapers, property survey documents, mainland mechanics to inspect vehicles we might buy, etc etc. This is in addition to their normal professional responsibilities of showing us properties we or my business partners might be interested in . .. which they are always all over.
They are probably the best I have ever encountered in my real estate acquisition career, and I would hope they can be recognized in some manner for this stellar client service.

John and Barbara met all our real estate needs in a professional, efficient, and caring manner. They were patient, responsive, informative, and extremely helpful with all are inquires that took place remotely, as we were looking from the U.S. When we arrived in Roatan, they showed us every place that we asked to see and even a couple that we didn’t ask to see, as they listened to what we were looking to purchase and giving us more options. We would recommend them to anyone who is looking to make a purchase in Roatan as they will provide excellent service during and after your purchase.

As a US citizen with an itch to always explore, my husband started to research tropical islands which have seen economic stability, adequate healthcare facilities, climate stability and property available with upfront ocean views, in safe locations. Roatan moved up the list, and we reached out John and Barb on August 18, 2024. One year to this date, we have explored the island, learned of its history, geography, and pros/cons all with the support of John and Barb. This resulting in us buying a vacation home.
A proven booklet of experience shared by John early in our research set the baseline on every aspect. It also provoked many, many deeper questions. Through e-mail and WhatsApp calls/messages, John and Barb answered all these with honesty and experience resulting in aligning on a well curated day of showings, with them on the island.
Buying a property in the US is riddled with steps, opinions, and risk. Venturing to a foreign owned island amplifies these . . . as well as the opinions of friends and family. Buying on Roatan isn’t for everyone; it is only for people and families interested in a close knit community, interest to be a part of a flourishing island landscape, slower pace of life and ongoing explanations to others of . . . “where and why Roatan”.
Why was Roatan right for my family?
The value for your money goes longer, but probably not for long. The completed renovation of the Port, active renovation of the airport, new resorts confirmed, and other key infrastructure projects will erode the value quickly.
The climate and nature less effected by tropical storms produces amazing snorkeling and diving. Roatan has gone through recent years of environmental cleanup, and the momentum indicates it will continue.
Tourists help with the economics but stay close to port leaving so much of the island less crowded. Huge efforts to beautify the roads commonly visited by tourists have recently been completed.
Cultural diversity keeps the islanders, attracts mainlanders to do work, and provokes new US and European enthusiasts to enjoy, respectfully together.
It’s an island! The US has coastal living but nothing effects our state of mind being on an island immersion.
Is there a risk in buying on Roatan? Of course, but weighing the options important to my family make it something we will enjoy for decades.
From my family to yours, thank you John and Barbara.

When my husband and I began looking for a home on Roatan, we were fortunate to be connected with John and Barbara Morris. Before we even set foot on the island, they took the time to learn what was important to us and what we were looking for in a home.
When we arrived, they picked us up for a full day of house hunting. We saw five homes that day—each one a great fit because they had truly listened to our priorities. They guided us through the offer process with clear explanations and made the entire transaction smooth and worry-free. Their communication was excellent, and they didn’t miss a single detail.
John and Barbara seem to know everyone on the island and have a connection for just about anything you might need. Eight weeks later, we closed on our perfect home—and even after the sale, they’ve continued to be an invaluable resource, answering questions about everything from paying property taxes to securing insurance.
If you’re buying a home on Roatan, I can’t recommend John and Barbara highly enough. They are knowledgeable, well-connected, and genuinely committed to helping their clients find the right home.
